Here’s our approach to a thorough and reliable HIU commissioning:

  • Visual Inspection: Check all connections (heating, DHW, electrical). Verify pipework is correct and secure. Ensure isolation valves, strainers, and filters are in place.
  • System Filling & Flushing: Fill the system with water and flush out debris to prevent blockages. Vent air from the system.
  • Power-Up & Safety Checks: Connect electrical supply. Test electrical safety features and connections. Confirm fault indicators and alarms work.
  • Temperature & Pressure Settings: Set correct operating temperatures for space heating and domestic hot water (DHW). Adjust pressure regulators and check expansion vessel charge.
  • Flow Rate Adjustments: Set and verify DHW and heating flow rates according to design specs. Balance the primary and secondary sides.
  • Control System Testing: Test thermostats, programmers, and sensors. Ensure communication with building management system (BMS) if applicable.
  • Performance Testing: Simulate demand for hot water and heating. Monitor response times and stability of temperatures.
  • Documentation Handover: Creating a detailed record of all commissioning activities, including test results, settings, and any identified issues.
